A structure collapses injuring construction workers near Texas A&M in college station. Tonight three people are in the hospital.
Construction crews were working on the new Texas A&M Equine Center near the A&M campus, when the steel frame of the structure collapsed.
Texas A&M Police tell us this happened about 10:50 this morning. The construction site is about two miles from the main campus. Four construction workers were injured. Local TV station, KBTX, is reporting that the workers were in elevated positions tying steel together on the 35-foot-tall, 300-foot-long barn when it came down.
One of the construction workers was admitted to a Bryan hospital in critical condition. Two were stable, and one was treated and released.
Reports indicate that between 25 and 30 employees for a Houston construction company, overseeing the project, were at the site when it came down.
As for what caused the structure to collapse, that has not been determined. We're told the construction company will oversee the investigation to determine how the steel structure came apart.
