A Texas man was honored for his generous dedication to saving lives.
Marcos Perez III has been donating blood for almost 30 years. It's estimated that his blood has saved nearly 2,000 lives.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center honored Perez Thursday for making his 640th donation.
"My dad had a lot of friends and only one guy stepped up to the plate. And his name was Tony Aguilar. And if he's out there, I'd like to thank him," Perez said.
"The benefits you get from donating blood, you're going to feel really great, especially since every donation can save up to three lives," Eric Maldonado of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center said.
Perez says when he was a baby, he needed a blood transfusion, and all it took was one person to save his life.
