Local group works to improve GA 400/I-285 interchange

Posted: Updated:

In November, when Georgia removes the tolls along Georgia 400, traffic congestion is expected to jump by 15 percent. It's one of the many reasons an organization is putting their money where their mouth is to improve driving conditions on the GA-400/I-285 interchange.

The Perimeter Community Improvement District is comprised of business owners in the Perimeter Mall area. They've agreed to self-tax in order to get major road improvements to their area. Now, they're ready to tackle their largest project yet!

It involves one of Atlanta's busiest intersections. Hundreds of thousands of Atlanta drivers travel through this stretch of road each day.

PCID President and CEO Yvonne Williams said, "It's been determined as one of the top in the nation for congested conditions. Georgia 400 and I-285 is certainly overdue for improvements to help relieve that."
