Five Austin non-profit organizations now have an extra $100,000 to help their causes.
Each year for the past decade, Women's Philanthropy group Impact Austin has awarded non- profit organizations grants of $101,000 each to fund new programs.
This year brought all the years' total to over $4 million given. One of this year's recipients was Manos de Cristo. The organization will be using its money to expand its dental clinic for low-income patients.
To qualify for this grant the organizations had to go through a rigorous selection process.
"The process that the women go through in deciding the organization that they're going to support is very rigorous. They look at a program that is gonna be a new program, or an expansion of their program, and that's really gonna make an impact in the community and have that ripple effect throughout Central Texas," Executive Director of Impact Austin, Liz Fitzgerald said.
Other recipients of this year's grants included Lifeworks, Gen-Austin, Zach Theatre and Colorado River Alliance.
