PHOENIX -

A man charged in connection with a burned body found in the desert nearly a year ago pleaded guilty at his arraignment Monday morning.

Police arrested 23-year-old Vroury Manoukian earlier this month on second degree murder charges. His next scheduled court date is July 31.

The body was found last July near Dixileta and Interstate 17.

Police say witnesses identified Manoukian's sport utility vehicle leaving the scene of the fire and blood stains were found inside matching that of the victim.

Manoukian lived with the victim at a home near I-17 and Bethany Home Road. Investigators say Manoukian and another individual disposed of McMaster's body and set it on fire in the desert.

The victim was later identified as Matthew McMasters.  He died from blunt force trauma.
