Off-Duty Cop Shoots at Truck after Being Run Over

Posted: Updated:

A Mustang Ridge police officer was run over and the driver was able to get away, but not before a group of security guards fired at his truck.

This happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday Morning at the Crown Event Center in Southeast Austin.

The Travis County Sheriff's Department tells us the officer was working off-duty as a security guard when he attempted to stop a truck, on foot, that was driving out of control.

That is when the driver ran him over. The officer and other security guards then fired at the truck. It is unclear if they hit it or not. The suspect vehicle is described as a black 4-door Chevy truck, possibly a Silverado.

The officer was taken to U-M-C Brackenridge with minor injuries.

Deputies are still investigating and need your help. If you have any information you're asked to call the Travis County Sheriff's Department
