CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A Blackhawks fan from Burr Ridge was hit by a puck that went screaming into the stands at the United Center during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Dr. Patricia Higgins, 55, was at the game with her daughter when a wild shot flew over the glass and hit Higgins just above the nose right before the end of the third period.

Higgins had to undergo surgery, but her family says she's expected to be okay and they're grateful the puck didn't hit her squarely in the eye.

Higgins is radio host Steve Dahl's family doctor.
