Flyers Get Defenseman Streit In Trade With NY Islanders

PHILADELPHIA -

The Flyers have acquired New York Islanders defenseman Mark Streit in exchange for right wingman Shane Harper, according to the team's general manager.

The Flyers also sent their own 4th-round pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to the Isles to complete the deal.

Streit, 35, recorded six goals and 21 assists for 27 points while playing in 48 games during the 2012-13 campaign.

The Switzerland native made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens when he was 26.

He represented his home country at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics.

Over parts of seven seasons, he has recorded 65 goals and 223 assists for 288 points in491 games.
