It's a unique football camp at Texas State. One on One kicking has teamed up with the Bobcats for a special one day camp.
"It's a great way to get recruited," said, One on One Kicking Owner Mike McCabe. Texas State special teams coach Brad Franchione added, "It's a great experience for the kids."
This football camp is specifically for kickers, deep snappers, and punters.
"Most of your colleges do not carry a specific kicking coach. So that's why we come in and that's our job. Teaching proper technique and form," said One on One coach and Arena League Kicker, Nick Gatto.
Franchione added, "Mike and his coaches do a tremendous job of teaching the fundamentals and mechanics of kicking, punting, and snapping."
This is the first time Coach McCabe's kicking camp has come to Texas State. And over the next two-and-a-half weeks they'll have 12 camps at different colleges and universities across the country.
"It's pretty stressful. We just drove here, which is 10 hours. Now we have a 17 hour drive to Kentucky. Then I have to drive to Ohio State. Then Louisville and many other schools. So we have about two and half week period of time to do all these camps for these universities, by NCAA rules," said McCabe.
Gatto added, "Lots of traveling. Just back-to-back camps where we're either on a plane or in a car for two-and-a-half weeks."
Franchione is excited to have the kicking camp in San Marcos.
He said, "For us to have this on our campus. Texas is about football so it's great to have quality coaches come and help us with our kicking camp."
