The Texas softball team advanced to the final four of the Women's College World Series for the first time since 2005 with a Sunday afternoon win over Florida, but its stay was short-lived, as the Longhorns were later eliminated from Oklahoma City Sunday night, losing to Tennessee, 2-1.
Fourth-seeded Texas, needing two wins over the 7-seed Volunteers to advance to the tournament's championship series, fell behind in the first inning when starter Blaire Luna gave up a home run. Tennessee would add another run in the 6th inning on a bases-loaded walk from Luna.
The Longhorns would make things interesting in the bottom of the 7th inning thanks to a solo home run from Lindsey Stephens to cut the Vols' lead to one, but Texas would get no closer.
Texas finishes its season with a 51-10 record.
