Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

For the second night in a row, Philadelphia police say they were forced to open fire on a suspect.

This latest shooting happened Thursday night near 24th and Oxford streets in North Philadelphia.

Police say the arrived at the scene to find a man running toward them with a gun in hand.

They ordered him to drop it, but when he refused, officers shot him.

The gunman was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

The officers involved in the shooting were not hurt.

This shooting comes a day after two deadly police-involved shootings, one in Germantown and one in West Philadelphia.

Police Commissioner Ramsey spoke to FOX 29's Dawn Timmeney, saying that the situation is unfortunate and that finding the answers to the questions remaining in the case is vital.

He also responded to reports that a witness at the scene says the man shot by police had his hands up but was shot anyway.
