The state's elite search and rescue team deployed from College Station at midnight to help first responders in Oklahoma.
The team is trained in urban search and rescue. According to Governor Perry's office 70 of the 84 members specialize in victim extraction and medical treatment. They are also bringing heaving equipment and canine teams.
Gov. Perry says resources in Texas will remain on alert ready to help.
The Austin Fire Department says five of its members have deployed with TTF1. One member specializes in communications, another in engineering and the others in operations.
An assessment team with the Austin Disaster Relief Network leaves Tuesday morning to see what the needs are. A spokesperson expects emotional care volunteers will deploy within the next 24-48 hours.
