Texas Softball Sweeps Austin Regional, Beating Gamecocks In Final
The good times continued for Texas softball Sunday as the Longhorns finished a clean sweep of the NCAA Tournament's Austin Regional with a 6-0 win over South Carolina at McCombs Field.
It is the first time since 2006 that Texas, the tournament's 4th-overall seed, went undefeated in a regional. They advance to host next weekend's Super Regional against either Florida State or South Alabama.
Vista Ridge alum Taylor Thom provided all the offense for the Horns on Sunday with a two-run homer in the first inning followed by a fifth-inning grand slam. Bowie's Blaire Luna overcame a shaky start to get the win on the mound. Luna started all three games for Texas in this weekend's regional.
The Longhorns outscored its opponents 22-2 in the three games this weekend.
