Families Sue Obama, Biden After 2011 Chopper Crash

PHILADELPHIA -

The father of a Navy SEAL from Philadelphia is suing the president of the United States.

This comes nearly two years after his son was killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

Why the drastic measure? FOX 29's Thomas Drayton explains in this video report.

Mayfair native Michael Strange was one of 38 people killed when a Navy Chinook chopper was shot down in August 2011.

His father says our nation's leaders made them a target.

Charlie Strange, along with two other families, filed a lawsuit in Florida against President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Strange says his son, a SEAL Team Six special forces serviceman was a target for retaliation by the Taliban after Biden revealed that SEAL Team Six killed Osama bin Laden just three months earlier.

The families say they couldn't convince Congress to launch an investigation, so they decided to take their case to the public and demand one.

The families also question the sudden replacement of seven Afghans on board the chopper just before takeoff.

They are suspicious that the original group may have tipped off the Taliban who then set a trap to lure the SEALs.

We reached out to Biden's office for comment. They tell us they are working on a statement.
