'Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker' Arrested In Philly On Murder Charge

He became an Internet celebrity for his interview after stopping a murder. But now it appears the tables have turned for "Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker."

Police say he has been arrested in Philadelphia for allegedly killing a New Jersey lawyer.

"Kai," whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, was arrested at the Greyhound bus station in Center City.

He is accused of killing 72-year-old lawyer Joseph Galfy Jr. in Union County, New Jersey.

Prosecutors say McGillvary met Galfy in Times Square and went home with him.

Galfy was later found dead inside his home.

"He had his underwear on he had his socks on. He was beaten about his body," Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said.

According to a source close to the investigation, McGillvary was on the run when he told a woman in a Center City Starbucks that he was wanted for murder.

That woman called 9-1-1 and led police to him.

Police in Haddonfield, N.J., reported earlier that McGillvary had been seen Tuesday catching a train at the PATCO station but was no longer believed to be in New Jersey.

Before capturing McGillvary, police said he had cut his hair to try and changed his appearance and was considered armed and dangerous.
