A new trend is sweeping the valley and the country -- people are skipping hotels and resorts, choosing to rent vacation homes instead.
"You have the half bath here and the full washer and dryer."
Sacha Blanchet owns five homes in the valley he uses as vacation rentals. He showed us around one of his properties in central Phoenix which he says is in high demand right now.
"People like to feel more at home and they like to be able to cook their own food."
Blanchet says people are forgoing the hotels and resorts for more comforts and amenities of home.
"Usually most of the time it's a lot less expensive, especially if you have to think of booking two different rooms for family if you have young children."
Over the years, web sites like Home Away -- vacation rental by owner and Flipkey have popped up, making it easy for homeowners and vacation home seekers.
Although the demand is up -- owning and operating a vacation rental home is not for everyone.
"There is more things involved that are required if you want to be successful in the business," said Blanchet.
Of course there is the financial investment, but Blanchet says it also an investment of your time -- spending hours answering emails and balancing schedules.
If you want more information on becoming a vacation home owner -- there will be a symposium this weekend at the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale.
