Austin Officer Padron's name added to memorial

Posted: Updated:

Several Austin Police officers as well as members of Jaime Padron's family traveled to Washington D.C. when his name was added to a police officer memorial.

Padron's name was one of 321 fallen police officers added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo was also among the group of police officers that traveled to the nation's capital.

Padron was killed on April 6, 2012 in a Wal-Mart near Parmer Lane and I-35. Brandon Daniel is accused of shooting Padron as he resisted arrest.

The dedication ceremonies will also include a parade on Tuesday and a memorial at the U.S. Capitol.
