Mothers in East Austin were treated to an "Iced Tea Social" courtesy of the natural grocery store, "Ingredients" on Manor road.
"Zhi Tea is one of our tea vendors and they were kind enough to bring a whole selection of iced teas to give out complimentary to anybody who shows up and we've got a few special little cupcakes and keesh and a few other nice food offerings," said Ingredients Assistant Manager Josh Blaine.
With games and a calming harp player, everybody seemed to be having a good time.
Joshua and Sarah Bingaman brought their 3 kids with them.
"Yeah it's nice! It's like 'Well should I be with my kids because it's Mother's Day? Or can I get a break?' And so we're doing a little bit of both, Being out as a family and some time alone," Sarah said.
Later on, they're getting someone to keep their kids while they have an ol' fashioned date night.
"We're gonna do something crazy like see a movie...which is rare these days. Might get some coffee somewhere. We're gonna have what's called a conversation which is also rare with 3 kids under 5 years old," Joshua said.
Sonya Emery and her mother Sue went to church on Sunday morning. For them, Mother's Day was more like Mother's weekend.
"We had fun yesterday! We celebrated by going thrift shopping and lunch together," Sue said.
We asked Sonya what her Mom means to her.
"Oh my goodness. Beside the fact that she gave birth to me...and I'm sure that wasn't very fun...and took care of me during a point I probably don't even remember. When it was hard. But now, cause she's the number one person who has my back all the time. The one I know I can rely on. And I'd like to do that for her someday," Sonya said.
Meanwhile over at Zilker Park, mom's like Christen Saunders chose to spend Mother's Day being active.
She picked hiking.
"Because this is the only time of the year I can get them to hike with me without complaint," Saunders said.
We put her kids Patrick and Peyton on the spot a little bit by asking them what they love about their Mom but they did pretty well.
"She's sweet and she takes care of me," Patrick said.
"She's nice and she's caring," Peyton said.
