Former assistant band director at Dessau Middle School in Pflugerville was sentenced to 30 years in prison for production and distributing material relating to the sexual exploitation of children.

Robert Ramos Jr., 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel in the Western District of Texas. In addition to his prison term, Ramos was also sentenced to serve 10 years of supervised release.

On Oct. 31, 2012 Ramos pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

Ramos admitted that he obtained sexually explicit images of a 13-year-old girl through communicating with her on Facebook using Facebook accounts that falsely portrayed him as a teenaged girl. He also admitted to distributing those images to a teacher in New York who was also contacting minor boys and girls for the purpose of obtaining sexually explicit images.

During his hearing, Ramos admitted to viewing a video on the internet and saving it on his computer of a 5-year-old girl being sexually abused by a New Jersey woman.
