NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A gun was found in a trash can at LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday morning.

Law enforcement sources told Fox 5's Lisa Evers that it was dismantled BB gun and was wrapped in a tee shirt.

It was found in a trash can near the Spirit Airlines ticket counter.

Sources told Fox 5 news that it might have been discarded by a passenger before going through the security checkpoint.
