More than 300 people now have jobs thanks to a new company in Austin. It's called TopGolf Austin.
General Manager Brad Spofford says he's proud of the team he's assembled, and has employees ranging from high school students to retirees all filling different rolls.
"We have a unique hiring process which is more of an audition than an interview. We do it XFactor style and we invite large groups from 50-100 people to show up and we take them through different phases of the interview," explained, Spofford.
The company started overseas in 2000. The popularity has grown over the last decade and atypical driving ranges are popping up in cities across the country.
The game is a mix of darts, bowling and golf. Inside the 65,000 square foot facility there are 102 bays. Plans to bring the game to Austin have been in the works for two years now.
It takes about half a million golf balls to make TopGolf work. All of the balls have micro-chips. Depending on where the ball falls you earn points.
Spofford says he'll have another hiring round this month.
