Five people were injured during a shooting in Taylor Monday night.
According to Taylor police, around 8 p.m. officers were dispatched to a shots fired in the area of S. Robinson and 700 E. Second Street. When officers arrived on scene they learned that five adult victims had been hit by pellets and fragments from a shotgun fired by 22-year-old Reyes Torres.
Police say 4-door vehicle occupied by an unknown number of subjects that drove up to the area. Torres, a passenger, reportedly exited the vehicle and fired multiple shots in the direction of the victims. Torres then fled the scene in the vehicle.
One male victim was transported to Seton Hospital in Round Rock for non-life threatening injuries. The other four victims were treated by paramedics for superficial injuries.
Around 9:20 p.m. police stopped the suspect vehicle in the 600 block of N. Main. Driver, 18-year-old Israel Galvan and passenger 19-year-old Fernando Torres were taken into custody, charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and outstanding warrants.
On Monday, Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Reyes Torres in Elgin. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
