Mayor Nutter: Philly Interested In Bidding On 2024 Olympics

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

It's official: Philadelphia is one of dozens of cities across the country interested in bidding to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Mayor Michael Nutter says he is "honored" that the city was considered and is "wholeheartedly" interested in working with the U.S. Olympic Committee, according to a letter he sent the committee on Monday.

Philadelphia is one of 35 cities across the country that received a letter from the national Olympic organization back in February.

Philly was also considered back in 2006 for the 2016 Olympics, but those games will be in Rio de Janeiro.

FOX 29's Stacey Stauffer was live Tuesday morning at the Philadelphia Museum of Art with the exciting details.
