NACO, Ariz. -

Two Mexican Nationals were arrested Saturday at the Naco port of entry after marijuana was discovered in their vehicles.

Saturday morning, Customs and Border Protection officers referred a GMC truck for additional inspection as the 30-year-old driver attempted to enter the United States. When officers were searching the vehicle, they located 30 packages of marijuana in the bed compartment of the truck.

The marijuana weighed more than 124 pounds and had an estimated value of $62,150.

Around the same time, officers referred a Ford sedan driven by a 23-year-old driver for additional inspection. Officers located 28 packages from the interior rear quarter panels and rear bumper. The drugs weighed 54 pounds with a value of $26,840.

Both drivers, from Cananea, Sonora, Mexico, were taken into custody without incident.

Also this weekend, Border Patrol agents from the Ajo station were working near Pisinemo, Ariz., when they discovered 34 bundles of marijuana abandoned in the desert. The drugs weighed 1,768 and were valued at $884,000.

Southwest of Ajo, agents seized three ATVs and 25 bundles of dope. The marijuana weighed 1,110 pounds and had an estimated value of $555,000. One of the ATVs had been stolen out of Pinal County.

No smugglers were found in either incident. The narcotics were turned over to the DEA.
