West, TX students back to school for first time since deadly explosion
Students in West, TX are returning to school today for the
first time since last week's deadly fertilizer plant explosion.
As the students and teachers in the area return to class,
they will be welcomed back by a team of counselors ready to help them transition
back into their everyday lives, during what they know will be a
School district leaders were able to move desks and chairs
back into the elementary school, which escaped sustaining any damage from the
explosion that could be felt nearly fifty miles away. Some West students will
be bused to nearby Conally ISD, even if they live in the Waco area.
Plans are also underway for a memorial service to honor the
10 first responders who lost their lives the day of the explosion. The Texas
Line of Duty Death Task Force will hold a combined service on April 25 at
Baylor University's Ferrell Center, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
