Marathon runners pleased with Boston bombing arrest

Posted: Updated:
Two Austin runners who participated in this year's Boston Marathon are glad to hear about the arrest.
Matt Harmatuk and David Garza are best friends; both entered the Boston Marathon for the first time on Monday. The tri-athletes were running in the race to support a local charity, Champions for Children. The charity helps children who are hospitalized with certain illnesses. When Harmatuk and Garza returned they were going to hand over their medals to the children they were sponsoring.
However, with less than half a mile to go before the end of Monday's race, the bombs were detonated and neither runner was allowed to finish. Therefore they weren't able to get the medals for their kids.
They say they are not sure if they will ever get closure from witnessing such a heinous crime, but are happy authorities have made an arrest.

"If I was to predict what Marshall Law would look like, that's what it almost kind of started to look like. For people to not be able to get outside of their houses that's a pretty significant incident. So for them to track them down and detain them as quickly as they could I thought they did an excellent job," said Harmtuk.

"When I found the first person was shot and killed I was a little disheartened because for me I wanted to know the why. I'm sure thousands of other people want to know the why too," said Garza.
The two are hoping to return to Boston next year and race again.
