Posted: Updated:

A man carjacked a Cap Metro bus and drove it to Bastrop, then shot himself.

Police say the man boarded a cap metro bus in southeast Austin where he was armed with a hand gun, and apparently ordered the driver and all of the passengers off the bus. Then man then took off down HWY 71 East.
Austin Police officers threw spike strips out, blowing out some of the tires on the bus. Eventually officers say the man pulled into the Autozone parking lot in Bastrop and shot himself with the handgun he was carrying.

A Capital Metro spokesperson told FOX 7 that drivers are trained for instances like carjacking. Police are questioning passengers and the driver. No one was injured.
