Humane Society of Central Texas rescues animals affected by West explosion

Posted: Updated:

It's the only source of comfort for some of the west victims, being reunited with their pets.

Social media is playing a major role in reuniting West victims with their four-legged family members.

Every animal being turned over to the Humane Society of Central Texas from Animal Control is being photographed and posted on the organization's Facebook page, under a West photo album.

If you're a victim and have a missing pet, you can call the Humane Society in Waco and give them a description of your animal and home address.

Volunteers and staff members say they'll continue rescuing every live animal they find as long as they're allowed to go into affected areas.

"They need, when they're picking up their animal, or they need pet food, i need a leash, a collar and a kennel, you know because I have nothing now, we're the resource to come to we'll be able to help you out with that," Executive Director of Humane Society of Central Texas, Don Bland said

When they say every live animal, they mean it. Representatives with the Humane Society have taken in dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, a lizard and a horse.
