SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

An order for a pizza to go was called into the Hungry Howie's on Coolidge at I-696 in Oak Park.  It was daylight Thursday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m.  The delivery driver was confronted about a mile from the store at Greenfield and Pennsylvania in Oak Park, then there was an incredible turn of events.

The 29-year-old delivery driver said he faced the barrel of a shotgun pointed at him and in one swift move told police he pulled the barrel of the gun and was successful in taking that shotgun away.  He then safely escaped with the loaded shotgun and called police.

Southfield Police responded and quickly got to a home on Mount Vernon near Nine Mile and the Lodge.  A K-9 team tracked the suspect to the home where the individual was arrested.  A pregnant woman was also taken into custody for interfering with police.

The Hungry Howie's delivery driver did suffer minor injuries in the struggle.

Southfield police tell us the 24-year-old suspect is being held and will probably face arraignment on Saturday.
