Authorities search for hit-and-run vehicle

Posted: Updated:

Austin Police are searching for the vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run on South Congress Ave.

Authorities say a 22-year-old man was crossing the roadway in the 90 block of South Congress Ave on April 5, when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.

The man was transported to UMC Brackenridge, where he was treated for serious injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing a black 2-door sedan and a red Jeep-type vehicle in the area at the time of the incident. They say the black sedan fled eastbound on Cesar Chavez and the Jeep-type vehicle fled on S. Congress Ave.

Police believe the vehicle may have damage to the front-end turn signal lens.

Detectives say they do not know if either vehicle was involved, however both were seen in the area at the time of the accident.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crimestoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
