ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -

The race director of the Ann Arbor Marathon says he and his staff will meet with police this week "to protect against" occurrences like the bombings at the Boston Marathon.
Mike Highfield says a number of security measures already are in place for the June 9 race. They include having private security overnight at the finish line.
He says there also will be "significant medical presence" at the second-year event.

Police in Lansing also have said security will be stepped up for Sunday's marathon in Michigan's capital city.
Lansing police Chief Teresa Szymanski says people attending the race will be protected. She says there will be additional patrols and bomb sweeps and asks that people attending keep their "eyes and ears open" and report anything they think might be suspicious.
