Temple University Issues Advisory After Threats Referencing Columbine

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Temple University issued an advisory Friday afternoon following a story you saw first on FOX Thursday night.

Threatening graffiti was found last month in the boy's bathroom of Gladfelter Hall, one of the university's academic buildings.

One of the writings said "April 20th I'll bring honor to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold," a reference to the shooters in the 1999 Columbine High School massacre, during which 12 students and one teacher were murdered.

The other message said "April 20th - you will all learn the meaning of suffering."

On Friday, Temple police informed the school, saying they are conducting an investigation into the graffiti message and have shared their information with Philadelphia police, the department's homeland security unit and the FBI.

"Recent news reports have raised concerns about safety at Temple University," the advisory states. "We want to assure you that the safety of the Temple community is our top priority and every effort is being made to keep our students, faculty and staff safe."

The school goes on to say, "Any actionable information that results from this investigation will be shared with our students, faculty, and staff. We encourage anyone who has safety concerns to contact Temple Police at 215-204-1234 or Philadelphia Police at 911."
