A local artist has teamed up with Centennial High School to do their part to get the valley tobacco-free.
Albert Ortiz is the creator of "No Smoking Art." It's a collection of anti-tobacco photos and paintings.
It helps spread the message and encourage others to kick the habit.
Ortiz will host a workshop where students get a first-hand look at some of his original art. They will then create their own for a chance to $200 in art supplies.
"I go to the art classes because I can marry the two things, anti-smoking and art, I don't tell them much about art because I leave that to the art," says Albert Ortiz.
"I stress the fact that smoking is bad for you and secondhand smoke is just as bad."
The student who wins the contest will also have his or her piece on the cover of STAND (Students Taking a New Direction).
