MESA, Ariz. -

Four men have been arrested, accused of setting arson fires in the city of Mesa during the past 15 months.

The suspects -- 20-year-old Spencer Scott Owens, 19-year-old Travis Lee Hanson, 19-year-old Clayton Charles Becker and 18-year-old Zachary Sean Bergin -- are believed to be behind a string of at least 27 arsons. Police say they used a butane torch to set fire to bushes, cars, sheds, and sometimes structures.

They allegedly started fires at a house and two local schools -- one of them Mountain View High School. The four suspects either attend or used to attend Mountain View.

Police say they were involved in drugs, and their main motive in starting the fires was simply to be destructive.

"To this date, no one's been injured in one of these fires, which was probably luck," said Mesa Police Chief Frank Milstead.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
