On Wednesday FOX 7's Loriana Hernandez was honored at the state Capitol with others for her work with children affected by autism.
Loriana founded the non-profit Maggie's Hope to help fund treatments for children with Autism.
Wednesday was named Texas Bow Ttie Day as state senators wore purple bow ties to raise awareness of the needs of children afflicted with autism and down syndrome.
Loriana was declared one of the Heroes for Autism along with former Longhorn and professional baseball player Greg Swindell, fashion designer Ross Benett, and TEA Commissioner Michael Williams.
