School Dist. Investigates Hazing Incident Among Varsity Baseball Players

BURLINGTON COUNTY, N.J. -

High school students in Burlington County, New Jersey are facing hazing accusations for an incident that allegedly happened during a team building exercise last month.

The Florence Township School District says it launched an investigation to determine whether at least one player was held down and bitten during the exercise, which involved members of the varsity baseball team.

The district says disciplinary action was taken for those involved in the incident.

In a statement released Tuesday, the district says the administration was made aware of the incident on March 22.

"As a school community, we understand that nothing is more important than the safety of all our students. Through the measures already taken and our continuing review of our procedures and protocols, we want to make certain that we provide a safe and secure environment for all of our students," the statement read.

News of the incident reached both parents of the school and even parents of an opposing team.

FOX 29 reached out to the team's coach, but as of the time our newscast aired, our calls were not returned. The school district says, as of right now, the coach is not facing an disciplinary action.
