Posted: Updated:

Austin Police have released a sketch of the man they say shot and killed a man in a parking lot downtown in the early morning hours of March 31.

According to investigators, police arrived at the parking lot near the intersection of Trinity and East 11th Streets just after 3:00 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, Bennie Heslip suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to UMC Brackenridge where he was pronounced dead at 3:43 a.m.

Detectives say Heslip was with a group of friends in the parking lot when they became involved in an argument with several other people. The argument escalated and Heslip wound up shot.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene.

Police say the suspect is a black man with lighter complexion. He is between the ages of 20 and 22-years-old and around six feet tall. He had a thin build and a youthful face. They also described him as having a thinner bridged nose. He also had a tight high fade haircut. He was last seen wearing a flannel long-sleeved shirt with a dark-colored sleeveless hooded vest and jeans.

The shooting suspect was seen with three black females of approximately the same age. One woman was overweight and wearing a black dress. She had long hair extensions. The other two women were skinny with long black hair.

Investigators say the four were seen leaving the scene in a black four-door Dodge sedan similar to a Dodge Avenger. They may reside in Waco.
