CTA accepts minimum $14M settlement for defective buses

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

The CTA agreed to a settlement of more than $14 million to compensate for a fleet of articulated buses that cost $87 million, before the vehicles were pulled off the street for alleged defects and sold for junk.

The transit authority bought more than 200 accordion-style buses from North American Bus Industries 10 years ago.

CTA officials announced Monday that it reached settlement with the bus company, after four years of legal wrangling.
