BENSALEM, Pa. -

Three suspects from Levittown have been charged with arson and related offenses in connection with a fire at a historic mansion in Bensalem, police said Tuesday.

The fire occurred Feb. 22 at the Croydon Mansion, a 237-year-old historic site, located on the 1200 block of Gibson Road.

Authorities said the fire caused substantial damage to the building. No injuries were reported.

The Bensalem Fire Department classified the fire as arson.

A joint investigation, which expanded to include Bristol Township police, found three men who were part of a group that called themselves the "Black Flag Family" gang broke into the structure and deliberately set the fire with the intent to destroy mansion, official say.

Charged are Dennis Rose III, 19, of Flame Hill Road, Michael Kurfuss, 19, of Ruby Lane, and Nicholas Ricciardi, 21, of Idlewood Road. Police said Ricciardi is a Bristol Township volunteer firefighter.

All three are being held on bail set at 10 percent of $200,000.

Police said the trio has been in custody since the end of February after being arrested for an alleged armed robbery in Bristol Township.
