WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police in White Lake Township are investigating an apparent murder-suicide.

Monday night, officers were called to a house on Danforth Street near Union Lake after an eight-year-old boy who lives there ran to a neighbor's house.

The officers found the bodies of a man and woman inside the home.

The deceased have been identified as 33-year-old Lorian Handy and 37-year-old Jason Handy.  We're told the woman had been shot several times, and the man had suffered a single gunshot wound.  They were the boy's mother and stepfather.

The boy was not hurt and is now with his biological father.

If you know someone and think they need help, there is a suicide prevention hotline.  The number to call is 1-800-273-TALK.
