Thousands run in Cap 10k race

Posted: Updated:

More than 25,000 people woke up early Sunday morning to lace up their running shoes and take the 6.2 mile journey stretching down Congress Avenue and wrapping around Lady Bird Lake for the Cap 10K race.

Since the race takes place in a city known for being weird some runners participated in a costume contest.

The race is the largest 10k race in the state and is ranked 5th nationally.

A 30-year old man was taken to the hospital after paramedics say he collapsed not far from the finish line. The man's heart reportedly stopped. Paramedics administered CPR and were able to revive him. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition remains unknown.
