PHOENIX (AP) - Donald Robinson, the president and chief operating officer of Arizona's largest electric utility, has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 59.
Arizona Public Service Company confirmed Robinson's death in a statement issued Thursday.
An Arizona native, Robinson worked for the utility for more than three decades. In 2009, he was appointed president and chief operating officer. He worked on everything from regulatory issues to resources planning and risk management during his tenure.
The utility's chairman and CEO, Don Brandt, describes Robinson as a "true gentleman and a real friend."
Brandt says Robinson's contributions will have a lasting effect on the company and its employees.
Robinson is survived by his wife, two children and two grandchildren.
Services are scheduled for April 10 at Bethany Bible Church in Phoenix.
