LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) -

Metro Detroit's biggest used book and media sale is coming to Laurel Park Place in April. This year 'Bookstock' celebrates 11 years of supporting the need to read.

The event is expected to include more than 100,000 donated used books, books on tape, DVDs, CDs, records and magazines. Bookstock has generated over $800,000 for literacy and education programs throughout the Metro Detroit area over the past decade. Proceeds from Bookstock help benefit outstanding students at Wayne State University's School of Library Science and Information Technology through the Bookstock Scholar awards. Last year Bookstock donated $5,000 to Amelia Earhart Elementary School.

Bookstock's pre-sale is open from 8:15 a.m. - 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, offering book lovers the chance to get a 'first look' at Bookstock's 2013 selection. There is a $20 admission charge to the pre-sale only. A performance by the Larry Callahan and Selected of God Choir will kick-off the event.

Throughout the week, Bookstock will feature four days of special sales. Teacher Appreciation Day allows all teachers with valid I.D. to receive 50 percent off their purchases from 3 - 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23. Special rates on Wednesday, April 24 and Thursday, April 25 allow shoppers to get a fourth book free with the purchase of three books. Also on Wednesday or Thursday shoppers who spend $25 or more will be entered into a drawing to win a Red Wings jersey signed by the 2011-12 Red Wings. On Bookstock's final day, Sunday April 28, all books will be sold for 50 percent off.

The sale hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.

It's not just the styles that have changed with weddings over the years -- it's also the technology. Disposable cameras used to be the norm, but now there's an even simpler way for the bride and groom to get some candid photos of their special day.
