Austin police continue to investigate the city's 5th murder of the year. It happened early Sunday morning on 11th Street and Trinity.

It has been less than 72 hours since Sean Heslip was gunned down in a parking lot on 11th Street and Trinity.

Early indications were the altercation was over a woman. Sean's mother Rhonda Heslip told FOX 7 Tuesday, she wanted to put that rumor to rest.

"This was not about any woman or gang thing," she said.

Meantime police are trying to piece everything together. APD's investigation has had a few leads, but nothing more than eyewitness accounts and few Crime Stopper tips.

"We would like to talk to the females at this point the male would face murder charges if and when apprehended," said APD Sgt. Brian Miller

APD is certain a man and three women were in a car early Sunday morning when the suspected male pulled a gun on 23-year-old Sean Heslip and shot him to death.

"He's described as a black male with short hair about 6 foot with a thin build," Miller said.

It's believed Heslep engaged in an altercation with the alleged shooter who was driving a black Dodge. Police say the argument escalated very quickly. A shot was fired and the four fled.

"We're asking anyone with any information on the black Dodge to come forward, that would help us out immensely trying to figure out who is the owner of that black Dodge or anybody that was downtown and might have seen something," said Miller .

Heslep graduated from Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville in 2008. He attended Texas Southern and worked two jobs one at a shoe store and the other as a security guard.

"What we know right now is they were downtown and we know at least two had attended the Texas Relays earlier. I'm not sure of the exact whereabouts of where they had been prior to that," Miller said.

On Tuesday Police released a photo of what they believe was the vehicle the suspect or suspects were seen driving at the time of the murder. Investigators also received a tip that the suspects might reside in Waco.

Anybody with any information on the crime or the suspects is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crimestoppers at 512-472-TIPS or text "Tip 103" + your message to CRIMES. You may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest or charges being filed.
