Police responded to the Brooklyn Bridge on Tuesday for a major security breach at one of the most highly secured landmarks in New York City. Two white flags — international symbols of surrender — fluttered from poles on the stone supports that hold cables above the span connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan. It is not clear who raised the flags that had a faint appearance of the stars and stripes or why.  The American flags that are normally up at the bridge were removed.

Fruit packaged by the Wawona Packing Company out of Cutler, California and sold at stores across the country is being voluntarily recalled. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says there is a possibility the recalled products may be contaminated with listeria. No illnesses have been linked to the recall. Certain lots of peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots sold at Trader Joe's, Costco, Sam's Club and Fresh Direct could be contaminated with the dangerous food-borne pathogen.

CHILLIWACK, British Columbia -

A tiny chihuahua took on a ferocious pit bull to save the life of an 8-year-old girl.

His name is Honey, but in British Columbia, they're calling him "Hero."

The 4-year-old chihuahua sprung into action when a neighbor's pit bull broke into his yard and attacked his owners' granddaughter.

The pit bull took little Jenna Desrochers down by the knees and began mauling her face.

Honey got between the girl and the pit bull, distracting it long enough for the pit's owner to drag the dog away.

Honey's owner, Anne Marie Desrochers, says he saved her granddaughter's life.

"They say she's got a few hundred stitches up here. Her eye was split right open like the eyelid right across and then she's got another wound here on her head.''

Jenna is going to need hours of surgery to repair her wounds.

The pit bull's owners have agreed to put the dog down.
