A new bill in the state Senate is pushing tougher regulations for abortion providers. Senate Bill 537 would require abortion clinics to be up to the same standards as ambulatory surgical centers.
But out of the 44 clinics providing abortions in Texas, lawmakers say 38 aren't up to those standards and could be forced to close.
