We're hearing from the family of a teenager killed in his ROTC uniform Tuesday in an accidental shooting. Police say he was tied to a burglary at his neighbor's house.

Police say three teens broke into a home and stole several weapons. When they were going through the stolen items, a 15-year-old girl pulled out a gun. Thinking she unloaded the weapon, she pointed it at her friend and pulled the trigger.

Raymond Berryman was shot in the chest and did not survive. Family members and his girlfriend are now dealing with his loss. They believe he was in the wrong place and the wrong time, and had joined the ROTC to stay out of trouble.

"He always to help people and he always wanted to do better, he was ambitious. I just can't believe what happened," said girlfriend Brenda Saldana.

"The last time I saw my brother was in the morning when I was getting ready for work," says sister Machelle Berryman. "My brother knows better than to disrespect his ROTC uniform. He knows better than that."

The mother of the 15-year-old girl involved is also devastated by what happened.

"I can't take back what happened, and I know Raymond's family is hurt, and I want them to know we're hurting with them, because we love Raymond too," says Kecia Mitchell.

In the room where the shooting took place, police allegedly found 3 stolen guns, and evidence the group had been involved in other burglaries.

The 15-year-old girl who pulled the trigger was detained on homicide and burglary charges. A 16-year-old boy is facing burglary charges.

The family is holding a car wash to help pay for Raymond's funeral expenses. It will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, at 47th Ave and Indian School.
