KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WJBK) -
Talk about junk in the trunk.
TV station WZZM reports a Kalamazoo public safety officer checking a suspicious car parked behind a motel early Tuesday morning appeared more than a little surprised when a deer climbed from the trunk, stumbled on the pavement and bolted into nearby woods.
The stations report the driver told officer David Miller he'd killed the deer after hitting it on the road and was bringing it to his family as meat.
Miller started opening the trunk after the driver unlocked it with a release button. A camera from a Kalamazoo squad car shows Miller starting to close the trunk and the deer climbing out rear-first.
Lt. Stacey Geik says the collision probably just stunned the deer.
