AISD bond proposal to go before voters in May

Posted: Updated:

Coming up on May 11, a proposal on the ballot will ask Austin tax payers to once again ask open their wallets. This time it's a multi-million dollar bond to improve Austin Public schools.

It took two years for AISD to design this bond proposal. It started as a $ 1.3 billion request and has since been trimmed.

John Blaiser, one of the driving forces behind the AISD bond proposal says the athletic and physical education facilities are woefully inadequate. He also says that AISD has the largest collection of portables in the state. The bond would reduce them by at least 16 percent.
