On Monday at noon the city of San Marcos will implement Stage 2 water restrictions due to the ongoing drought.
The city's residents had been under Stage 1 restrictions since December. However, the drought has reduced the level of the Edwards Aquifer to the point where Stage 2 restrictions are triggered.
Under Stage 2 restrictions, residents can only use sprinklers and automatic sprinkler systems one day per week on designated days. They can also only use these sprinklers between midnight and 10:00 a.m. and again between 8:00 p.m. and midnight.
Soaker hoses, drip irrigation, and had watering is allowed any day before 10:00 a.m. and after 8:00 p.m.
The rules also restrict at home car washing to one day per week. Filling new swimming pools, using outdoor decorative water features, and washing paved surfaces is also prohibited.

Residents wishing to report watering violations are asked to call the Water Conservation Hotline at 393-8360.
